https://www.waimakaririridingclub.com

The Waimakariri Riding Club is a group of likeminded horse owners who have a shared vision to support the ongoing development of riding skills in the community.

The Club grew out of a need for coaching and education of riders as many of our members are mature riders, often returning to horse ownership after a gap. We believe coaching is the major ingredient in the equation that leads to safe and positive experiences and to improve confidence. As a Riding Club we are dedicated to seeing riding standards continue to grow across our equestrian community.

We hold monthly coaching sessions in a wide range of disciplines, a speaker-dinner with equine experts and a ‘hacknix’ – a ride somewhere with a picnic to finish. Check out the website for details.

Sonya Williams (Boo) is the NZ Riding Clubs secretary and treasurer as well as president of New Plymouth and Districts Riding Club.

The New Plymouth & Districts Riding Club started officially in 1985 with a uniform of Royal Blue with Beige Jodphurs. The original minute books have disappeared so we have no background history before 1998. Our Patron was Lyn Prentice for many years, she is a life member of the club along with John Moore.  Chris Hobin took over the Patron role in 2015.

Our uniform changed to Royal Blue with Black Jodphurs in 2002 when we started going to NITE.  We changed it to our current colours in 2008 to Black shirts with Amber Trim & Black Jodphurs to better match the Taranaki area. We have had some success at NITE over the years and for those that take up the challenge of entering a team have been hooked.

Our season is August to April with beach treks, farm rides, lessons, have a go days, jumping and gymkhanas on the calendar.
